Thank you for joining us at Institute Park!
Thank you to our wonderful community of friends, families and supporters for making AbilityFest 2017 such an uplifting and empowering event for individuals of all abilities! On Sunday, October 1, hundreds of people participated in AbilityFest’s one-mile Murphy Mile Walk, with smiles on their faces that warmed the already beautiful day at Institute Park.
The event’s 5K race was also well attended. Some of the highlights include the participation of local legend in the making, Maddy Wilson. A phenomenal 8-year-old wheelchair racer from Spencer, MA, who’s racing success clearly shows that people with disabilities can excel with the right support and encouragement. “Maddy is a quiet 8-year-old, but she’s very competitive and passionate about her sport,” her dad, Carl, said. Participants from Team Hoyt also competed along-side Maddy and the other runners.
Congratulations to our 5K Winners:
- First Place Male - Jacob Wyman
- First Place Female - Paula Curran-Hayeck

The beautiful fall weather helped to make the festivities at the Park our largest success to date. Attendees enjoyed live musical performances from Matthew Wade of My Silent Bravery, as well as from Ethan Caouette. Wally from the Redsox and Jake from the Worcester Bravehearts also joined in the festivities.
