Seven Hills Foundation

Medically Complex Behavioral Residences (MCBR)

Our West Street program, located on the campus of the Seven Hills Pediatric Center in Groton, is a specialized, 24/7 staffed group home providing comprehensive care for children and adolescents with complex medical and behavioral needs. Our program is designed as a safe, home-like alternative to hospital or institutional settings, supporting individuals who require continuous medical oversight but do not meet the criteria for acute hospitalization.

We specialize in serving youth who are medically complex and behaviorally challenging—often those who are difficult to place in traditional residential or foster care settings. We recognize that many medically fragile youth also experience significant behavioral and emotional challenges, and our services are designed to address both simultaneously. This is the first program of its kind in Massachusetts, licensed by the Department of Early Education and Care and regulated by the Department of Children and Families.

Our Integrated Medical and Therapeutic Approach

Our programming integrates specialized medical care with a therapeutic foundation to ensure stability and growth:

Trauma-Informed Care: Specialized support that recognizes and responds to the impact of trauma.

Crisis Prevention: Expert de-escalation strategies to maintain a safe environment.

Structured Routines: Daily schedules designed to provide predictability and stability.

Medical Management: Continuous oversight of chronic and complex medical conditions.

Behavioral Support: Clinical interventions for co-occurring mental health challenges.

Specialized Team & Environment Promotes a Sense of Belonging

We maintain a highly qualified, multidisciplinary team dedicated to the unique needs of our residents:

Nursing Support: On-site Registered Nurses (RN) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN).

Direct Care Professionals: Staff specifically trained in both medical and behavioral support protocols.

Clinical Support: Guidance and therapeutic clinical services, delivered by qualified clinicians and case managers.

Home-Like Setting: An environment that promotes dignity, normalcy, healing, and a sense of belonging.

Goals & Transitions for a Successful and Resilient Future

Our primary objective is to prioritize the safety and stabilization of each youth while fostering their individual strengths. We understand the importance of maintaining normalcy; therefore, we strive to keep youth connected to their communities and provide the necessary life-skill development to support their future. Whether the goal is a transition back to a natural family setting or to a lower level of care, our team prepares residents for a successful and resilient future.
