The United Way of South Central MA has awarded Family Services of Central Massachusetts a $27,600 grant for the Summer Literacy Initiative (SLI). SLI places elementary school teachers as Literacy Coaches at summer program sites to help foster youth’s reading skills, and thus promote academic achievement during the school year. The generous funding from UWSCM will support the expansion of SLI into Southern Worcester County.
