Recognizing Child Care Providers in Central Massachusetts

On May 28, the Seven Hills Family Child Care program hosted a Provider Appreciation Dinner at Marcello's Restaurant in Fitchburg. At this annual gathering, we recognize, appreciate, and celebrate the dedicated providers who are part of our FCC provider network, serving children and families throughout Fitchburg, Leominster, and Lunenburg.

Through the Family Child Care program, Seven Hills partners with family child care providers, offering training, administrative support, referrals, regulatory guidance, nutrition assistance, and other resources that help them deliver high-quality early education and care in their homes. Together, these providers play an essential role in expanding access to nurturing, family-based care for children in our communities.

Why it matters:

  • FCC providers deliver high-quality, home-based child care
  • Seven Hills supports them with training, referrals, nutrition programs, and regulatory guidance
  • Strong provider networks expand access for families and support healthy child development

Providers received certificates and gifts to celebrate their impact on children, families, and community stability.

Expanding Access Through Healthcare Partnerships

Seven Hills is partnering with Worcester State University’s Speech-Language Pathology program, which recently received a grant enabling the program to pilot new audiology assessment practices specifically designed for people who may not respond well to standard testing. WSU has long been a partner of Seven Hills, and as part of the university's expanded SLP program, students majoring in Speech Language Pathology were thrilled to work with the people we support through the Seven Hills Adult Day Habilitation Program.

Impact:

  • Increases accessible and inclusive health evaluations
  • Gives students hands-on experience with Seven Hills Adult Day Habilitation participants
  • Strengthens long-term community-based care partnerships

Inclusive Arts at Worcester Art Museum

Artists from Seven Hills ASPiRE! programs are featured in Among Blooms: Finding Ourselves in Nature at the Worcester Art Museum’s Open Door Arts Gallery (on view through August 24).

A very excited and talented group of artists proudly presented their creativity during the opening of the new exhibit on June 4. The vibrant exhibition celebrates creativity, self-expression, and the beauty of the natural world. Featuring artwork in a wide range of media, this exhibition showcases the talents of artists from Seven Hills ASPiRE! Day Program, who have spent the past year creating work and exploring at the Worcester Art Museum. Through painting, drawing, sculpture, and mixed media, the artists share unique perspectives on nature, growth, and connection.

What makes it important:

  • Highlights artists with disabilities and their creative voices
  • Encourages self-expression, inclusion, and community engagement
  • Showcases artwork in painting, sculpture, and mixed media

Promoting Inclusion Through Community Experiences

Seven Hills staff and residents attended Disability Pride Day at Fenway Park on May 26, enjoying a Red Sox game and celebrating inclusion.

The group enjoyed an exciting game against the Atlanta Braves, sampled favorite ballpark foods from concession stands throughout the stadium, received a limited-edition Disability Pride Day Red Sox jersey, and spent a memorable evening together in the city.

Beyond the excitement of baseball, events like Disability Pride Day highlight the importance of community inclusion and belonging for people with disabilities. Meaningful participation in community activities allows individuals to build relationships, explore shared interests, and enjoy the same experiences that bring people together across all walks of life. Opportunities to attend sporting events, concerts, festivals, and other public gatherings help break down barriers, challenge stereotypes, and promote greater understanding and acceptance within the broader community.

Why inclusion matters:

  • Builds confidence, independence, and social connections
  • Gives people with disabilities equal access to shared experiences
  • Helps communities reduce stigma and foster belonging

Key Takeaway

Seven Hills programs show that strong child care systems, inclusive arts, and community partnerships are essential to building supportive, inclusive communities where everyone can thrive.
