On February 1st, Seven Hills is fortunate to have Sophie Santaella, MBA, joining our Leadership Team as Executive Vice President/Chief of Operations.  We are incredibly excited to have this experienced mission-driven leader join our work of bringing exceptional support and care to those we are privileged to serve.

Sophie will work closely with the President and CEO on strategic initiatives that further the mission of Seven Hills Foundation & Affiliates and collaborate with Senior Leadership to execute the initiatives to achieve targeted results. She is responsible for optimizing resources, streamlining processes, and production of performance analytics to ensure high quality service delivery and sustainable growth across the organization.

Sophie brings over 25 years of experience in strategic management and sustainable business development in corporate and nonprofit organizations, leading teams through restructuring processes, organizational diversification, and programmatic expansion, including over 12 years in healthcare and human services leadership. Her areas of expertise include strategic planning, operational and administrative management, care delivery innovation for complex populations, public sector healthcare reform, and evaluation of the impact and value of healthcare service delivery models.

Before joining Seven Hills, Sophie was Chief Operating Officer at Vinfen Corporation, a $250M non-profit human services agency with over 300 programs in eastern MA and CT. During her tenure at Vinfen, Sophie led the expansion of Vinfen’s behavioral health services, including procurement and implementation of the Community Behavioral Health Center for the Lowell region and the expansion of urgent, emergency and crisis stabilization services for adults and youth. Sophie oversaw the expansion of residential services in MA and CT for individuals with developmental and psychiatric disabilities as well as complex medical issues and oversaw the development of a community center for individuals with brain injuries. Sophie led the company’s response to COVID, including establishing Regional Response Teams and infection control policies and procedures, implementing telehealth and the transition to remote services delivery, oversight of state and federal COVID revenues, hazard payments, HR policies, regulatory compliance, and reporting. Sophie also oversaw the strengthening of the company’s infrastructure with the implementation of 2 EHRs, an HR information system, an online learning system, and the development of a data warehouse.

Before her position as Chief Operating Officer at Vinfen, Sophie joined the MA Executive Office of Health and Human Services (EOHHS) as Director of Community Partners and Social Services Integration. While at the state, Sophie led the team responsible for policy development and implementation of the Community Partner Program under Massachusetts’ $1.8 Billion healthcare reform 1115 Waiver. Sophie provided subject matter expertise for strategic programmatic development within the EOHHS and worked with other government agencies, providers, community organizations, advocates, and stakeholders to integrate health-related social services into MassHealth’s delivery system.

Please join me in welcoming Sophie to our Seven Hills Community!
