Good News Friday: Team Connections, Student Success, Arts Careers, and Child Care Advocacy Across Seven Hills

At Seven Hills Foundation, meaningful impact happens every day through collaboration, inclusion, education, and advocacy. This week's highlights showcase how our teams are strengthening connections, empowering students with disabilities, creating pathways to employment, and advancing access to critical family services across Massachusetts.

How Did CBHI Teams Celebrate Teamwork and Appreciation This Fall?

Staff from the Worcester and Southbridge Children's Behavioral Health Initiative (CBHI) programs recently came together for an afternoon of fall-themed fun, connection, and team appreciation.

Set against a beautiful autumn backdrop, team members enjoyed seasonal treats, fresh cider, games, and the opportunity to strengthen relationships outside of their daily responsibilities. While the two programs serve different communities, they share a common mission: supporting children and families through compassionate, high-quality behavioral health services.

The gathering provided an important opportunity to:

  • Build stronger connections between teams
  • Recognize staff dedication and hard work
  • Reflect on the impact of CBHI services
  • Celebrate the shared mission of serving children and families

Events like these help foster collaboration, support employee engagement, and reinforce the strong culture that allows Seven Hills team members to make a difference every day.

Why Is Special Olympics Bowling Important for Crotched Mountain School Students?

Students from Crotched Mountain School recently traveled to Peterborough, New Hampshire, to participate in a Special Olympics bowling event, where they proudly represented their school while enjoying friendly competition and community engagement.

While bowling scores are certainly exciting, the value of these experiences extends far beyond the game itself.

Benefits of Special Olympics participation include:

  • Building confidence and independence
  • Developing social and teamwork skills
  • Promoting physical activity and healthy recreation
  • Strengthening community inclusion
  • Creating opportunities for achievement and recognition

For Crotched Mountain School students, participating in community-based activities is an important part of developing skills, building relationships, and enjoying the experiences every young person deserves.

We congratulate all of our student bowlers and thank the staff, families, and community partners who helped make the day a success.

What Is the Open Door Arts CareerCREATE Program?

Open Door Arts at Seven Hills recently released its 2026 CareerCREATE Report, celebrating another year of student achievement and growth through one of the region's most innovative arts-based transition programs for youth with disabilities.

Offered in Boston and Worcester, CareerCREATE provides high school and transition-aged students with disabilities opportunities to develop artistic skills while exploring career pathways in the arts.

How Does CareerCREATE Support Students with Disabilities?

The program focuses on helping students build:

  • Connection through collaborative experiences
  • Representation by amplifying diverse voices and perspectives
  • Expression through creative exploration
  • Artistry through skill development and artistic practice
  • Transition Readiness for life after high school
  • Employability through workforce and career development opportunities

By combining creativity with career exploration, CareerCREATE helps students gain confidence, strengthen professional skills, and envision new possibilities for their futures.

The newly released report highlights the remarkable accomplishments of participating students and demonstrates the power of accessible arts education in preparing young adults for success.

How Is Seven Hills Advocating for Greater Access to Child Care in Massachusetts?

Expanding access to affordable, quality child care remains a critical issue for families across Massachusetts.

To help advance this important conversation, Seven Hills Child Care Services recently welcomed Representative Tricia Farley-Bouvier to its Pittsfield office for a discussion focused on child care access and family support services provided through Child Care Resources with Seven Hills.

What Child Care Challenges Were Discussed?

The conversation centered on the growing demand for child care resources across Western Massachusetts and throughout the Commonwealth, including:

  • Increasing family needs for child care support
  • Rising demand among child care providers
  • The need for expanded access management services
  • Legislative priorities that could strengthen the child care system

A particular focus was increasing funding for the state's Access Management line item within the Early Education and Care (EEC) budget, which has remained level-funded despite growing service demands.

Child care access plays a vital role in supporting working families, strengthening local economies, and ensuring children have opportunities to thrive. Seven Hills remains committed to partnering with policymakers, providers, and community leaders to help address these challenges and improve access to essential services.

We thank Representative Farley-Bouvier for her continued advocacy and for engaging in thoughtful dialogue about the future of child care in Massachusetts.

Creating Opportunities, Building Connections, and Strengthening Communities

Whether bringing teams together, supporting student athletes, creating pathways to careers in the arts, or advocating for families in need of child care services, these stories reflect Seven Hills Foundation's ongoing commitment to inclusion, empowerment, and opportunity.

Every connection made, skill developed, and barrier removed helps create stronger communities and brighter futures for the individuals and families we serve.

At Seven Hills Foundation, we're proud to support people of all abilities as they learn, grow, connect, and succeed.
