Stetson School Youth Honor Boys & Girls Club
Recently, Stetson School, an affiliate of Seven Hills Foundation, recognized the extraordinary efforts of the Boys & Girls Club of Worcester for its work with the children of Worcester. In addition to awarding the Club its Victim Fund Award for 2017, Stetson purchased backpacks and school supplies to be given to children in Worcester who are currently homeless. Stetson youth participated significantly, filling the back packs and talking about the value of giving back to the community.
“As simple as this task may sound, it had a big impact on our youth,” said Joe Allred, Vice President of Stetson School. “It meant a lot to the boys to contribute so directly to the process, and roused memories of preparing for the first day of school. School is the ultimate equalizer. No matter where kids are – at home, in a shelter, or in a program like Stetson – everyone attends school. It’s a shared experience for all and has the ability to create safety and a connectedness to their world,” he added.
In all, Stetson delivered 120 backpacks to the Boys & Girls Club, thrilling recipients and Club officials alike. Sometimes the little acts make a big impact. This project means a great deal to the recipients and no less so to the givers.
