Funding for Dialectical Behavior Therapy
Seven Hills Foundation affiliate, Children’s Friend, would like to thank the Reliant Foundation for their $10,000 grant award towards our Dialectical Behavior Therapy program at the Ellsworth Child and Family Counseling Center.
The Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) program at Children’s Friend is a modified form of behavior therapy that addresses a serious community need: adolescents who are engaging in dangerous and self-destructive behaviors. Our DBT program provides individual therapy; DBT skills training in which clients are taught specific techniques for responding differently to the triggers in their lives that have prompted their self-destructive behaviors, and DBT team consultations. DBT is not taught in graduate psychology programs. To become a DBT clinician, extensive specialized training is required. Generous funding from the Reliant Foundation will be used to send three clinicians from the Ellsworth Child and Family Counseling Center to receive training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy at Behavior Tech in White Plains, NY.
Without the continued support of the Reliant Foundation, we would not be able to grow our DBT team and provide these much needed therapies to children who are in distress. We are so grateful to the Reliant Foundation for their generous award.
