This three-day event on research, practice, advocacy for individuals who type to communicate will focus on the theme of Finding a Voice, Finding a Place, Finding a Purpose. The conference will begin each day with a keynote presentation, followed by hands-on workshops and concurrent sessions. You can expect to learn more about supported typing, develop your skills with leading communication trainers, and access the latest research on communication support and inclusion. HOW: Visit the Institute on Communication and Inclusion Homepage ( Supported typing, or facilitated communication (FC), is a form of alternative and augmentative communication in which people with disabilities that involve communication impairment express themselves, by pointing at pictures, letters or objects, and more commonly by typing; with the assistance of communication partner, or facilitator. The goal of this communication training and support is physically independent typing, typing with minimal facilitator support, or a combination of speaking and typing.
