Community Service’s Residences Rated Perfect
Seven Hills Community Services (SHCS) takes pride in all of its homes. Recently, SHCS residential supports were evaluated by the Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services (DDS) Survey and Certification team, which measures the quality of supports provided to individuals. Prior to the start of the surveys, Rich Neckes, Seven Hills Community Services Vice President, proposed an additional challenge to residence staff in which he and the Assistant Vice Presidents promised to prepare breakfast for staff who achieved perfect surveys. Mr. Neckes was more than pleased as 14 homes from the Northeast, Central and Southeast regions met this challenge.
In the report issued by DDS, it was stated that “Seven Hills clearly values and recognizes the primary role staff have in carrying out the work of the organization, providing the tools staff need to meet the expectations of their assigned work.” Also noted was “the highly individualized nature of the services being provided to individuals. Seven Hills promoted an organized, team approach, with the person receiving services as the focal point of the support team’s effort. Guardians and family members were encouraged to be an integral part of this team approach, and uniformly expressed satisfaction with the level of communication they had with agency staff. Clinical expertise had been accessed as needed, and was well integrated into the context of the person’s life. Comprehensive assessment tools helped inform support team members’ approach to skill acquisition, assisting people to increase independence. The systems and resources available at Seven Hills were responsive and supportive to the needs of individuals.”
