Seven Hills Clinical Associates
Children's Residential Program Option
Recently, Seven Hills Clinical Associates developed an exciting new option for school districts that enables students requiring a residential placement to remain in their community and take advantage of local supports.
In the fall of 2004, Seven Hills Clinical Associates opened a five-person residence in Haverhill. The philosophy behind this residential program is to provide a home-like setting for students in or very near the community where they and their families live. For the school system, this new option addresses many issues.
- The student is absorbed into an educational program currently operated; there is no additional cost for school tuition; the cost is only for the residential component.
- The student continues to be connected to the school system, which reduces the amount of traditional out of district placements.
- The residence is local; therefore, the cost for transportation, when a student goes home for vacation or visits, is significantly reduced.
- Since the student is closely connected to the school system, the family and significant persons, the likelihood of the student leaving residential supports is increased.
- Seven Hills Clinical Associates staff work closely with the school staff; therefore, the student benefits from a consistent approach across both settings.
- The educational benefits for a student living in a small setting are greatly enhanced; thereby, increasing skills and resulting in a more successful transition back to the family or into adult life.
This new program design may be an option that your school district may want to explore. If you are interested in learning more, please contact Dr. Katharine Cleary, Vice President, at 508.755.2340 x 258 or kcleary@sevenhills.org
