Seven Hills at Groton Receives Department of Public
Health Nursing Home Satisfaction Survey Results

March 2006 – The Department of Public Health recently released the results of their first-ever statewide nursing home consumer satisfaction survey. The survey results listed both the statewide and facility specific data. The results from the eight aspects measured in the survey were excellent throughout
the Commonwealth, and Seven Hills at Groton, an Affiliate of Seven Hills Foundation, set the standard for quality care in most of the categories measured. The survey for the Seven Hills facility was sent to 72 “responsible parties” (parents or guardians of the residents of Seven Hills at Groton), 44 were returned, for an overall response rate for the Pediatric Skilled Nursing Community of 61.1%.

The Nursing Home Satisfaction Survey contained fifty-three satisfaction items designed to measure the “responsible party’s” overall satisfaction with the nursing facility as well
as to gauge specific areas of supporting services and the environment, including:

  • Activities
  • Administrative and Personal Care Staff
  • Food and Meals
  • Personal Care Services
  • Physical Environment
  • Residents’ Personal Rights

Seven Hills at Groton received high marks in every category with one exception, the Physical Environment. The future improvement of the physical environment at Seven Hills at Groton is being addressed with the undertaking of a $9 million dollar renovation and expansion project that began in early 2005. The Dignity by Design Capital Campaign is intended to raise the monies necessary to significantly impact the utility and function of the facility. It will also allow for the expansion
in the number of beds available at this Pediatric Skilled Nursing Care Community. The enhancements to the building formerly known as Children's Extended Care are remarkable.
