Golf Tournaments Benefit Seven Hills Foundation

On Thursday, August 16th, the members and friends of the Worcester Country Club held the "32nd Annual Lori Lajoie Charity Golf Tournament" – and what a tremendous day it was!!  The weather was perfect, the course was in great shape, the food was superlative as was the decor, and everyone had a great time. The silent and live auctions raised a substantial amount of money. The big item for the night was the trip to Pebble Beach, which was donated by Lexus of Northborough and the Lexus of Champions organization. We brought in around $225,000. This will be the largest amount ever raised from this fantastic one-day tournament. Words cannot express our gratitude to the members of the Worcester Country Club for their generosity and continued support.

In May of 2007, we held our first event of the year, “The New Beginnings Golf Tournament”, which was hosted by Skip Dykstar along with his good friends, Dan and Diane Lee. This annual event was held at the Heritage Country Club in Charlton. As always, it was a very nice outing and proved to be very beneficial because of the generosity of the participants. We even had a hole-in-one by L.J. Tosches, who won a set of irons for his accuracy.

On Sunday, July 22nd, we held our first “To A Tee” Golf Tournament to benefit the recreation programs operated by Seven Hills Family Services. The tournament was held at Leicester Country Club, and included a barbecue dinner.  Jen Masnik and her group of volunteers did a masterful job organizing this event, which raised approximately $4,500. Hopefully, next year’s participation will grow to a full field.

On Monday, September 10th, Seven Hills Behavioral Health and Seven Hills Community Services hosted their annual "All Fore One" Golf Tournament in Southeastern Massachusetts to benefit all of our programs in that area of the state. Steve Nelson, 14-year NFL veteran and member of the New England Patriots Hall of Fame, graciously served as the “Honorary Golf Chair” of the tournament on our behalf. The group in Southeastern Massachusetts worked hard to make this a tremendous success. There were approximately 80 golfers who participated in this event.

The last golf tournament of the year, "The Rick Karbowksi Charity Golf Tournament," was held on September 24th at the Blackstone National Golf Club in Sutton, MA. PGA Champions Tour Professional, Rick Karbowski, a native of Worcester, hosted this charity golf tournament in the greater Worcester area to benefit the Seven Hills Foundation MA Polytrauma Center for Veterans with Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI). Rick was able to reach out to many of his contacts on our behalf to make this tournament a success. Peter Jacobsen, a well-known PGA Tour winner, was the tournament's special guest. Peter put on an outstanding clinic that not only was informative, but also very entertaining.

Furthermore, as warm as it was that day outside, it got even warmer in the country club as they experienced an electrical fire in one of the kitchen walls while the tournament was ongoing.  Every fire apparatus that the town of Sutton owns made an appearance, as did an ambulance and a fleet of fire trucks. Bottom-line was that all the food in the kitchen had to be tossed out. So Tony’s Pizza, which is located on Route 146 in Sutton, came to our rescue by delivering pizzas and subs free of charge. A special thank you to Tony's Pizza for the donation of the delicious tournament dinner that revitalized the golfers and saved the day.
