Fitchburg, MA, December 13, 2006 -- Children’s Aid & Family Service (CAFS), a nonprofit provider of child care, social, and mental health services to income-eligible families in Worcester County, was recently awarded a $7,500 grant through the Community Benefits Program at Fallon Community Health Plan (FCHP).
The grant was awarded to fund nutritional food for 34 children, aged three and under, in the “Kids Eating Healthy” program at the Children’s Aid & Family Service Child Care Center in Fitchburg, MA. “Kids Eating Healthy” was established to improve nutrition, increase physical activity, and educate children and their parents on the benefits of healthy eating habits. The Community Benefits Program at FCHP recognizes organizations that promote innovative health care solutions and social services that positively impact the health and well-being of the individuals and communities they support.
Children’s Aid & Family Service is a recent Affiliate of Seven Hills Foundation, the largest human services provider in Massachusetts, with a staff of 2,026 professionals supporting 21,000 individuals with disabilities at more than 140 locations across the Commonwealth.
Dr. David A. Jordan, President and CEO of Seven Hills Foundation, expressed his appreciation of the grant and its importance to the “Kids Eating Healthy” program. “Children’s Aid & Family Service is committed to the health and well-being of the children in its care. The grant awarded by Fallon Community Health Plan will directly impact those in the early stages of development who need good nutrition in order to thrive and sustain active, healthy lives. For that we are most grateful.”
