Seven Hills Academy In the News
Students at Seven Hills Academy began the year with a full agenda of ways to contribute back to the community…and along the way they have taken a few opportunities to celebrate and party as well. The Academy is part of the Ecostar Program that has taken hold of the Devens, MA development. Businesses throughout the region are working toward making their operations more environmentally friendly. Following in the footsteps of Columbo Yogurt Founder, the businesses are taking a fresh look at what they throw away, what type of energy they use and how they can be a better partner with the environment and other local businesses and organizations. We are part of that initiative and the students at the Academy have embraced recycling in every aspect of their classroom experience.
In addition to their work with the Ecostar Program, Academy students have recently partnered with Mass Development to maintain and beautify the area of roads and landscape near the Seven Hills Academy and Seven Hills Day Habilitation site at Devens. Signs have been placed along the area of road that they are responsible for, and the students take great pride in this new responsibility. Mass Development has assisted the program by providing all of the necessary tools to do the work of maintaining the area.
Meanwhile, all work and no play is no life for a group of energetic students, so they have rewarded themselves by taking every opportunity to celebrate something. The biggest party was following the Championship Season of the Patriots this past February. Everyone pulled out their favorite athletes jersey and gathered with staff and fellow students for a great time. Dr. Kate Cleary, Vice President of Seven Hills Clinical Associates which oversees Seven Hills Academy remarked, “This group of students really understand the meaning of hard work, and they know how to enjoy themselves too, they have a lot to be proud of!”
