Respite ServicesThe Respite program allows parents or guardians caring for a child with special health-care needs to have time off for themselves. To be eligible for respite care, a child must need an institutional level of care. This is the type of care typically provided in a hospital, nursing home or Intermediate Care. Other factors used in determining eligibility include, but are not limited to: the severity of the child’s condition, the intensity of services required, the child’s functional daily living skills, safety and safety awareness, and the needs of the family. To learn more about services for children with special healthcare needs and eligibility requirements, please visit The Rhode Island Department of Human Services at: http://dhs.embolden.com/Default.aspx For more information about Children’s Respite, or to inquire about the referral process, please call any one of the CEDARR Family Centers below: About Families www.aboutfamilies.org
