My Choice

My Choice is a fiscal intermediary program of Seven Hills Rhode Island, enabling people with developmental disabilities and their families to take control of their supports and services they need to live the lives they choose. The mission of this program is to assist each person to maintain their independence and determine for themselves what programs of supports work best. Services are based on the needs and desires of the individual and, if appropriate, the family as determined through a person centered planning process.

Self-directed programs are guided by the following principles and core values of self-determination:

  • Individuals plan their own life and customize the purchase of needed resources and services.
  • To control a certain amount of dollars approved by the State Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) in order to purchase necessary supports.
  • To organize resources and personnel by recruiting and hiring staff  to assist in meaningful ways.
  • To accept a valued role in the community and to be accountable for spending public dollars that are life enhancing.
  • To recognize the importance of leadership in self-advocates.
