Long-Term PediatricsChildren enrolled in our long-term care receive all the necessary medical, nursing, therapy, and leisure services to enhance their quality of life. Many residents come to us with a history of congenital birth defects, past infections, or trauma. Cognitively, residents are under the age of 12 months and non-ambulatory. The Medical Review Team (MRT) of the Department of Public Health approves all admissions. Children attend an on-site, accredited Department of Education special needs school during the day. The staff of educators, all of whom specialize in the education of children with developmental disabilities, works closely with each child’s individual school system to develop a plan to assist each child in reaching his or her greatest potential. Community involvement and field trips are also an integral part of the children’s daily lives.
