Kenya

In Kenya, 1 in 3 children do not attend school. The student-teacher ratio is 40:1 nationally, and far worse in many rural, poor communities. Access and affordability of education remain serious issues in Kenya today.
SHGO’s partner in Kenya is the Beverly School of Kenya (). This impressive school campus will grow to serve over 400 K-12 students. The Beverly School of Kenya is the first school of its kind in Kenya that was purposefully initiated in a rural area, and created to serve disadvantaged and marginalized children. Half of enrolled students are orphans who call the school ‘home,’ living on-site in dormitories. A number of students are afflicted with HIV/AIDS. The Beverly School helps students forge a better future for themselves and for their world through education and community.
