HIV/STD/AIDS Services
Seven Hills Behavioral Health can provide vital information and services to a wide range of clients faced with either an active disease or in a high-risk population. Information and education is made available through a variety of community-based venues, including street outreach, bar outreach, and other high-risk community locations.
We offer a variety of programs geared towards persons living with or at risk for HIV/AIDS/STDS. We promote dignity and respect for all clients and have provided free, anonymous HIV Counseling and Testing for Southeastern Massachusetts since 1990. Our programs are funded by the Department of Public Health, the Boston Health Commission and SAMHSA, Substance Abuse Mental Health Service Administration.
Our services are provided through a variety of means, including drop in centers, stationary outreach, mobile outreach and by appointment. Our drop in center and offices are welcoming and physically accessible to clients and they are well stocked with appropriate harm reduction materials and supplies.
H.O.M.E. of H.O.P.E.
H.O.M.E. of H.O.P.E. Drop in Center for Women is an HIV Prevention and Education program in New Bedford. The women served are active intravenous drug users at risk of HIV and other STI’s, who also battle issues of addiction and engage in high risk behavior. Through prompt, professional, and culturally competent services, we help women and their children break the cycle of oppression whether the issue is poverty, substance abuse, HIV/AIDS/STIs or domestic violence.

S.T.E.P. Drop-In Center
The S.T.E.P. Drop-In Center is an HIV prevention and education program located in Fall River serving both men and women who are active, intravenous drug users. The program supports individuals battling addiction issues and at risk for HIV, STDs and Hepatitis.

T.W.I.S.T PROGRAMS
Our T.W.I.S.T programs provide substance abuse and HIV Prevention and Education services. These programs operate in many communities throughout Southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
T.W.I.S.T. – Fall River, MA
The T.W.I.S.T. program is a HIV Prevention and Education Program geared to gay, bisexual, and questioning men. T.W.I.S.T. promotes healthy messages to help decrease the risk of HIV and other sexually transmitted drugs through events at our drop in center, mobile outreach and stationary outreach.
T.W.I.S.T. – New Bedford, MA
T.W.I.S.T. program in New Bedford provides Substance Abuse Prevention and HIV Prevention intervention to promote our messages. Our services are targeted to gay, bisexual and questioning men. The Drop-In Center is utilized in New Bedford and a Mobile Health Van for outreach. The Mobile Health Van travels to Providence, Rhode Island and HIV testing is provided during specified hours at the Drop-In Center and the Mobile Health Van.
Counseling and Testing
SHBH provides full, anonymous HIV testing. Counseling and Testing services are provided at the methadone clinics, the drop in centers, during mobile van outreach, and at various halfway houses/sober houses and residential programs. Counseling and Testing services are always held in a private space, even during mobile outreach. SHBH has provided these services since 1986.
Narcan
SHBH is the only local provider approved by DPH to provide Narcan Opioid Overdose Prevention and Reversal. Narcan is a short acting opioid antagonist that is safe and effective for use in reversing opiate overdose. Through the Narcan program, SHBH trains opiod users, their families and their friends on how to prevent and recognize an opioid overdose and what to do if it occurs.
Partner Services (PS)
Our PS Coordinator works directly with case management and primary care teams to provide ongoing prevention to those positive and to their partners and links them to care as needed. SHBH is one of 14 regional DPH PS providers with an internal PS RN who has more than four years’ experience conducting PS.
Needle Disposal Services
SHBH has DPH-approved kiosks in three locations. They are as follows: Site #1-1173 Acushnet Avenue, New Bedford; Site # 2 is located at 310 South Main Street, Fall River; Site # 3 is 589 South First Street in New Bedford.
HIV AIDS Case Management/Outreach Services
Case Managers in Project Care provide information and assist HIV+ clients in obtaining a broad range of services including: locating adequate housing; client advocacy for retirement and disability benefits; accessing healthcare; assistance with doctor, hospital and home visits; and translation, interpretation and referral services. Case Managers are trained to assist with the translation of doctor’s notes, explain medical dosages, treatments and diets, and medical follow-up care. Case Managers provide interpretive services and advocacy to Spanish and Portuguese clients.
