Educational ServicesGaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) – New Bedford The GEAR UP program is designed to increase the number of low-income students who are prepared to enter and succeed in post-secondary education. GEAR UP provides services at economically disadvantaged middle and high schools. GEAR UP grantees serve a cohort of students beginning no later than the seventh grade and follow the cohort through high school. GEAR UP operates in the Normandin Middle School and New Bedford High School. Educational Opportunity Center Thinking about College? The Educational Opportunity Center can help you get there. The Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) helps people begin or continue their post-secondary education. Since 1974, the EOC has provided educational access services including academic, career and financial aid advising at eight service centers across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. While the Educational Opportunity Center services generally focus on low-income adults (19 and above) who are first-generation college students seeking a post-secondary education, our services are available to all members of the community. Educational Opportunity Center educational advisors can provide professional assistance tailored to an individual’s needs and circumstances. All of our services are free and our staff is multilingual. Talent Search Talent Search provides students at Keith Junior High and New Bedford High School with the following services:
Appointments Individuals are encouraged to call in advance to schedule an appointment. Advising sessions are available in Spanish, Monday-Friday, 9am – 5pm. Making this situation work is challenging and sometimes very difficult for parents and their children. This 5 ½ hour seminar will help you to continue parenting your children effectively and to assist them in coping with the effects of separation or divorce. Topics that will be discussed:
